PS Catch Can...

So I am in the process of building a catch can for the PS reservoir.

On both of my cars, the cap is leaking PS fluid. Its not much, but a film forms on the cap and then it collects dirt and grime. Not a good thing...and seems to be universal due to a bad design on the PS reservoir.

So I am in the process of figuring out how to make this happen.

I have ordered a set of aluminum hairspray bottles. 2-3 ounces.

I am using Mobile 1 Synthetic ATF.

So while I am removing and replacing the reservoir and associated hoses, I think its a good time to figure out a way to keep the fluid in the reservoir.

Anyways, will ATF eat through plastic tubing? I need to figure out what type of rigid tubing I need to go with to make this work.

Right, I remember reading on that.

ZF makes all the caps. I actually purchased a ZF reservoir and it came with the newer style cap. So I don't think the baffled design is available any longer. I have about 5 PS caps. I give up.

So the next step will be to install one of the new ZF reservoirs in the car with a custom made catch can that is not so obvious. I will probably end up drilling a hole on the side of the can and tapping a fitting there, rather than trying to tap the cap. I will then just plug the hole in the cap with RTV.

I don't know yet, still waiting on the canisters to arrive that I ordered.
