Back from Reconstruction, but now there's a badge issue...

I'm happy to report that I got my Bimmer back earlier in the week from the body shop. They did a great job with the door and the quarter panel (had to be shipped in from Germany) but they removed the badging to blend the paint and this happened...



It just doesn't look right at all, but it wasn't right to begin with. It's too far to the left or something and the spacing is off. But where exactly does the badge go? Here's what it looked like before:

I personally like the trunk de-badged.

Looks like they didn't center it, only problem is that if they put the 3m tape on before the paint cured, it might pull the paint off When I had my car painted, it was at least a week for the paint to completely harden, and you can see a little bit of "pushed" paint near the spoiler.

Take it back to them and have them fix it so if the paint gets ruined, it's on them.

how could they mount it sooo low..? yes..de-badge (by them).

Yeah, it's gotta go back to them to get a trim piece installed (they bought the wrong clips) so I'll just have them do it then. Another thing I noticed was that the badge was glued directly to the body, whereas my dad's '88 had a foam backing to it. Did they change that with the front/rear refresh?

It was the first thing I noticed and its driving me crazy every time I see it. My dad, who picked the car up from the shop, said he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary (having driven an '88 vert for six years) but if you compare photos of the two you can clearly see the difference.

So now that you mention it, I think that debadging it might not be such a bad idea after all... Thanks for your input.

+ another for debadge. makes all cars with a center mounted emblem look better no matter make or model imo

As for the //M, I had an e39 M5 project car for about a year, and that was most likely the best car I'll ever own. That thing was badass, its the US M3 that's a letdown compared to the euro counterpart..

I hate de-badging. the only thing I see wrong is the "I" is lower than what it used to be, but other than that I think the numbers are fine.

true. i forgot about the non-3 series cars, as well as the new e46 M's. the new big, bulky, no road feel cars dont really say ///M to me.

I'd drive an E36 M for the rest of my life. Euro tuned or not

im sure you know true e36 M engines are far from just a tune. the modified M50's the US has are nothing like a true M engine.

I know theres a big power difference. 70ish?

Its never enough, even if it was a euro engine Id still want more. Lol.

81 more HP, more TQ, ITB's,8k RPM's, quicker throttle response, better vanos system. the euro engine are true ///M race engines. the US just got modified m50's.
