E39 Facelift Halogen to Xenon HELLA OEM retrofit

I got these headlights from ebay and I I want to retrofit my Facelift Halogen 2001
They are xenon OEM hella from 2003 530i



last night in installed them on 2003 530i car with xenon
( simple swap just to be sure that all is in working condition ) before Halogen swap

2 questions :
1 I need to do some light correction , right side it down left side is up
As far as i can see adjusters are not broken and auto leveling system is working
How you guys adjust your headlights ?
2. Xenon light is kind of purple . My OEM is white ... is it headlights or bulbs ?
just strange for me , i am kind of new to this staff

Difference between OEM D2S HID Bulbs and H7 halogen bulbs.

Lights look like they are in good shape. Hopefully your adjusters aren't broken. If not, adjustment is very simple with the white turnstyle adjusters up top. Good luck~!

Last night i played a bit and adjusted them ( up down movement ) , thanks to bluebee
I need to try left right adjustment as well

Guy told me they are off from 540i and this why they have purple color

If you ask me i like white color more ... which bulbs I need to look for ?

How much did you pay for the lights?

Purple color means the bulbs are not creating the chemical reactions that produces the light. Inside an HID lamp, there's this chemical called halide. WHen voltage is applied between the two electrodes inside the lamp, a chemical reaction takes place because this element is negatively charged and will react to the positive charge. It's this reaction that produces the light.

they work great as far as i can see except of color which i dont like

i just need to swap headlights and decode them - this is the whole point of buying OEM Xenon Hella set and replace Halogen

usually they run about ~1200-2000$ new or ~400-1000$ used
You may need some hardware as well
check ebay

I use after market HID on my E39, 5k, 50W set, much brighter than the 35W set, no regret

i try to figure out where auto level server is connected

No you don't need new bulbs. These guys have no idea what they're talking about. The purple color means that your HIDs are a certain K. 6000K tends to be a pure white, and as you increase it goes blue and purple. 8000K would be blue and so would 10000K. When you go higher than this you get into purple and you also get into lights that are so bright they are illegal in some states. Be careful what you buy. I prefer 8000K.

Ummm, how do you figure he DOESN'T need new bulbs if he wants to change the color?

FYI OP, most on here seem to prefer OEM White which is typically 5000k*. I have my DS2 lights (HID Fogs included) 6000k and I think they all look great. Very bright white with a subtle hint of blue. Good luck.

I am pretty sure you will want OEM bulbs.
Please post a picture of the D2S bulb you have now.
Is your bulb OSRAM-SYLVANIA?

You probably do not need to replace the bulbs.
You are probably only comparing the halogen light temp. to the HID D2S light temp.

To buy OEM HID bulbs, reference the EAC link I posted above, or look on HID Concept, or on Ebay.
