2003 Z4 Side View Mirror

Hello all,

First time poster here. Over the last few months, I've noticed my side view mirror of my 2003 BMW Z4 3.0i becoming... well... weird. It was normal, and then different colors started showing up to the point where it looked like a rainbow. Now half the mirror looks golden at all times of the day (see attached image).

I want to get this replaced since it makes using the side-view mirror impossible. I'm pretty sure this is the OEM part number: 51-16-7-177-127

Do any of you gurus have advice as to how I should go about getting this repaired or repairing it for myself for as cheap as possible? Since the driver side mirror is autotinting/heated, I'd like to also have that on the side view mirror. Is it really going to cost $300 just for the part?

127 is on the left (drivers side)

I had the same problem. Be careful when disassembling. There is liquid inside the mirror that can damage your paint. Not sure about finding replacements as mine was replaced under warranty. Might be able to find one in a junk yard.
