Bad Start
Could have sworn I posted this:
What happened to the 7-10 day turn around time for the new X3. People are stating months before they get one. Shoot I ordered mine from Germany and it was built and shipped to dealer in 8 weeks. Also, hearing that all these options are not available and dealers asking MSRP? Not a good way to start out in my opinion with all the After an abysmal 2010 sales year are they really that foolish?

Yes that is a terrible way to start after their sales were so low for the past years
But take into consideration that there is a lot of people ordering the cars (US,Europe.etc.etc..) But they still have no right to tell us that there is a one week turn around. They should say its a 2 month plus turnaround. And the whole options thing,,,,I thought there would be extras like exclusive colors for interior and exterior and more little extras (accesories) that we could enjoy but I guess thats not how it goes. |

People need to understand that the quick turn around is once they are in full production and they have caught up with back orders. This is obvious. Initially they said people couldn't even order until January 22nd. If all dealerships have not even received one yet, how can people expect to have them quicker. I'd say around May...when things die down things MAY be quicker...but that depends on demand. It seemed like they were pushing about 3 weeks as their goal.

When models just come out, there's usually a limited supply and fewer allocation spots. Give them time, the factory is still working kinks out and they also are filling European orders. Plus, not every dealer has the new X3 yet so they need to get one of each X3 out to hundreds of dealers nationwide. And then there's always the holidays.........
BMW isn't alone in this new-model rollout delay. For instance, the Chevy Volt isn't even sold in most states. |

I figured they wouldn't/couldn't keep to that time table and suspect they won't until next year. If you make a promise to your clients then stick to it. Otherwise don't. It's that obvious! BMWNA is inflexible when it comes to holding us accountable, I don't see why we shouldn't do the same. Plus I wouldn't pay MSRP for a vehicle that is untested in the community so moot at this point.

It is a 7-10 turn, once it is in production...this does not include lag time until your dealers allocated spot. Dealers all have allocation for production, some sooner, some later...this has nothing to do with how quickly it is built once it goes into the in production code.

That is immaterial. BMWNA made it sound like they would deliver in 7-10 days. There was no mention of dealer allocation. Sorry ill cut them some slack when they stop giving bs excuses when you come in for service or other issues. If they are going to stretch the truth before you buy it what will happen once you pay for it? Sorry love this x3, but hate liars. And BMWNA is right there at the top.

7 to 10 days seems almost impossible for anything other than factory delivery. It probably takes that long just to transport a vehicle from the factory to my local dealer in Tacoma.

Azn I am equally tough on anyone that lies and I have heard you be just as rough on them so you may want to rethink that comment.
When you buy your first BMW I am sure you will be just as picky if not more. If I recall you were pretty upset about the whole dual climate control. It's all perspective. Sent from my DROIDX

Many car companies don't even allow a personal order. Even if I wanted to, I can't order a VW Golf to my specs. It's literally a "dealer takes what VW AG spits out occasionally from Germany" situation. The issues with the X5 were eventually dealt with under warranty; given the X5's history of poor battery performance it's not surprising. The dealer's actions were to be expected and we never got involved at the corporate level, no need to. If I had know my dad was going to buy the X5, I would have steered him away from it but it was an impulse buy on his part and now he's suffering the consequences. He asks for the X3 back every other day and my reply is "If you can swap-a-lease on the X5, I'll be happy to let you keep the X3." Last edited by AzNMpower32; 01-01-2011 at 07:26 PM. |
