Dec 15 PCD - loved it!!

First, THANKS to Donnie, Roy and Andy for a fantastic day.

I know this has been said many times before, but that M5 hot lap was RIDICULOUS!!. Roy made that M5 perform in ways that are well beyond anything I had experienced before and he did it with complete confidence while talking us through what he was doing.

For anyone who is contemplating whether to do PCD. What is there to think about? Talk to your SA, secure a PCD date, schedule a vacation day, find your way down to Greer, SC and treat yourself to a very memorable day.

I know that if there are no pics, it didn't happen. So, here are the pics:

Arriving at the Performance Center

There it is!! In the delivery bay...

It's trapped Does anyone, have a key?

Yes, they had to send someone outside to get me. I'm off to Donnie's briefing and then to the track

Unfortunately, they didn't have an X6 35i for me... so I had to make do with this X6 M

Queued up for the breaking exercise. We each had radios in our cars to get feedback from Roy on what we were doing well or what we should do differently

Next up, we did the slalom and track

Moving through the cones, with no body roll

Accelerating through the corner

Waiting for our turn to do the skidpad exercise

No X6 for the skid pad because no way to turn Xdrive off - the 335i after skidding out with traction control off

The final exercise was the X5 off-road course. No pic from that, but here are the X5's lined up for us

It's delivery time!!

I love that X6 rear end

Window stickers in the cargo area

I love the Titanium Silver / Chateau contrast

She's free. Parked in front of the Performance Center and ready for the drive to DC

My obligatory odometer pic -- 12 miles

500 miles later... welcome home to Maryland. Not exactly summer performance tire weather, but I have winter rubber waiting in the garage

Hey I was there too on the 15th, picking up the car in my sig below. I definitely agree on the M5 hotlap, it certainly beats any and every amusement park ride I've ever been on. Those guys make it look effortless.

We certainly had our work cut out for us on the skidpad considering we had solid ice to work with instead of just wet pavement. That was a blast as well. Beautiful X6, hope you're enjoying it.

I think you did the M5 hotlap in the same car we did right after my wife and I. And, were you sitting in the first row, right side during Donnie's briefing?

I hope you're enjoying your 335i too. Beautiful color.

I hear that there is ice/snow in the Carolinas this week so you'll might have a lot of skidpad to put that traction control through its paces.

For me, the anticipation really started to grow in the final week. Part of that was my excitment over the X6 (my first new car/truck in 9 years), but the combination of the new car and my first PCD had me counting down the days.

10 days and counting...

Great experience! My PCD is 1/14/11, which is in 3 days!

I'm hoping the snow will not create a problem.

Do you need to have a helmet for the hot laps in M5? I have my own, and if yes, would like to bring it.

No helmet required for the M5 hot lap. But, you will need a strong stomach (depending on how much you eat for lunch) because the hot lap is immediately after.

My fingers are crossed for you on the snow and ice. Hopefully they will have the track clear for you.

Enjoy!!
