driver side door only no alarm activation???

if i am the only person in my car and only use the driver side door, the alarm does not arm when commanded. if i reach over and open the pass door and shut it then set alarm... it arms as advertised.

i am wondering if this is an issue that reprogramming the alarm at a dealership is required...

if anyone has had a similar problem i would like to know... thanks!

Who needs an alarm these days ? Does the clown nose blink when you lock the car with the remote? Are you sure you actually *have* an alarm ? (They`re optional on 3-series....most people don`t bother).

Regards,
Bob

Sound to me like *maybe* the switch on the passenger side door is malfunctioning and the alarm thinks the door is still open. It won't arm if a door is open, but upon close it will arm.

Unless the door wasn't closed all the way, but unlikely this is a repeat offense each time you drive the car.

i def have an alarm... i have set it off before.

the clown nose only blinks when alarm is activated, not just locked.

if the switch on the door is possibly malfunctioning, will the alarm still arm? and wouldn't the indicator light on dash show door opened all the time?

also, when the alarm DOES activate i get the normal blink of parking lights and *beep*

BUT, when it is JUST the driver side door that was opened, i get no lights or *beep*, just locking of the doors and no "clown nose" blinking...

Like maybe you forgot to plug in the wiring for the door lock actuator. Or you routed the wiring in the door incorrectly and when you rolled the window down wiped all the wiring out.

Sounds like you need to replace the door lock actuator. The door ajar sensor is in the actuator assembly. I have all the part numbers listed on my web page for all the years/body styles/LHD/RHD. There are also pictures of the internals in case you were wondering what it looks like inside.
