Question 1982 E21 320i motor swap help? Suggestions?

I need help, i have a gorgeous e21 its orange/red and runs great but i need more hp. I dont want to ruin the motor in it and it has a slight knock. I have an old rusted e21 sitting out back so im going to put this motor in that but i need some opinions. I am a mechanic so the labor is not a problem im just looking for your opinions . I want a bmw motor in it. Im not putting an ls1 chevy motor in it. I want either a six or four cylinder. Basically heres the main question: an M20 engine or an M30 motor. Im stuck between the two

The m20 is lighter then the m30 by a bit so if you are thinking about weight then i would go with the m20. if you are interested I have one from a 528e e28 and one from a 525i e34. The one draw back to the m20 is that every 60,000 miles you have to change the timing belt. As to the m30 you will get more power by about 90 horse. If you do this you want the 265 getrag, but you will have to get the drive shaft shortened. I also have m30 out of a 533i that has the hotter cam in it.
