Angel Eyes
I was upset to hear that the European market has LED angel eyes on the 2011 3 Series. BMWNA elected to stick with the halogen H8's. I am not fond of the yellow look. I elected to go the simple route and changed the H8 to a PIAA Super Bright White. It looks crisp when the car is running and only the daytime driving lights are on. When the Xenon headlights are turned on, the angel eyes switch to low voltage (5 amps) giving it the yellowish glow again. Is there a way to override this? I am also looking at the new LED "plug and play" for the H8. I know it wont be as bright, but wondering if it would look better at night?? Any advise would be great!

Custom order euro headlight assembly maybe? Will cost an arm or a leg, but you get exactly what you want. If you go on e90post there is a guy in Florida who you can ship your lights to who will replace it with LEDs.

I would go with an LED setup as they provide a much purer xenon white color.
When you select the LED bulb, make sure to pay attention to the design. A standard LED H8 bulb will not illuminate the rings properly. The WeissLicht LED Angel Eye Unit has a Y shape design that is specifically designed for these headlights to provide a fuller ring than other options.

Now change out your fogs for green and you'll have a Christmas car. White is best, IMO.

I met my parents for dinner tonight. My father has a 2011 335i. I drive a a 2007 335xi. I have PIAA angel eyes. When we came outside we both used the remotes to open the doors and the angel eyes lit up on both cars. His stock angel eyes were twice as nice as mine. I was definitely suprised at how great they looked, stock.

Yeah, I think its bs we didn't get these either and it was even listed on my production sheet, but apparently the 11 sedan didn't get, only coupes. Cheap mf'ers.

I agree
I too put in the PIAA Super Bright White. It looks great during the day. Problem is at night when you turn the Xenon headlights on, the voltage in the angel eyes drop to 5 volts. This gives it the yellowish glow again. I do like the WeissLicht, but does it provide enough light during the day to see? They look fairly easy to install. I may give them a try. But again, the PIAAs loook awesome during the day as driving lights..very white!

I was hoping to see some in person so I could see if they are as bright as they appear in pictures. I know the factory halos are awfully yellow.

Thats my problem. I would like to see a set in person to make sure they are worth the money. I know $140 is a small investment, but I dont want to waste money either. Im sure they look awesome at night, but my concern is losing the daytime driving light effect. The install should be reversable since its a "plug and play" setup.

Look at my sig, find a bunch of posts on the x5 forum regarding the LED H8s. My set is from iJdmtoys, looks amazing and it's only around $120.
