Intro to BMW Ownership - HELP!
Hi everyone... my name is Cody.
I just bought a 1997 BMW 528i e39 with 160k miles last week. ASC light has been on since purchase Red seatbelt/airbag light? Is on.. I was driving tonight (20 degrees) and my ABS light came on. (I have read as many posts as i can, yet feel my situation is slightly different. The CEL and BRAKE lights are NOT on. NOT ON. The trans will NOT shift while in drive but WILL shift if done manually 1-2-3-D Speedo and odometer WORK. I HAVE NOT tested the ABS brake system to ensure it functions. I have noticed that when i turn the steering wheel it makes a motorized noice similar to the one made by the trunk actuator. I do not think it's the VANOS as i still have power all through RPMs. .......... Do you guys think it is a dirty wheel speed sensor? I read what the rear wheels effect and have deduced it is a front sensor... HELP!?!?!? I will post a pic of dash lights later....
