X3 F25 (2011 - current)
The latest X3 brings some added style and some new features to the BMW SUV family. Talk about the new F25 now! |

I am screwed
So my wife and I go to the Philly car show on Tuesday so I could show her the 328x drive sedan that I want to purchase sometime in March. She likes the car when all of the sudden she looks up and discovers the silver 2011 x3 siting 20 feet away. She fell in love with it and now wants one! I must admit that the 2011 redo is really nice, but now I am trying to figure out a way to lease one and possibly buy the other.
I could also just comprise and just get the x3 which would at least give me a little taste of the 3 sedan.

Similar story back in 2007 - ended up getting an '08 X3 to compromise between my wife wanting an SUV and me wanting a bimmer. I would no longer say it's a compromise. We love it. I say go for the X3. You could also look at the 3 series wagons which are pretty sweet.

You should check X1 too. It should be available pretty soon. We have 328i and trade up to X3. We did test drive between old X3 n Audi Q5 when my wife was 9 month preggy. I like Q5 much better than X3 then. But we decided to wait after we found X3 would be available pretty soon. We did another test drive in Jan, and we could live with either X3/Q5. We chose X3 since it is my wife fav. brand name and cargo space. Our X3 is at prep. center now. Waiting sucks !/

The new 3 series should be out soon, too.

Thanks for all the comments. My heart is set on the sedan, but the compromise doesn't seem too bad.

I like the Q5, too but the ride is too stiff for a family hauler. The new X3 rides much better. However, I like the 2.0t in the Q5 than the 3L in the X3.
I am waiting for the X3 and new 3 series both to come out with 2.0t that will produce 240 hp/260 lb-ft @ 1300 rpm! There will be a 3 series crossover too, hopefully in RWD. |

Found time to drive an X3 28i, liked it, the standard suspension and RFTs handled bumps well, though not as sporty as I expected, maybe because I have been driving a 328i. There are so few of them to get what one wants the only option is custom order.
In the end though I wasn't dazzled by it, maybe it was too much hype, a crossover is after all a crossover. |
