Sport Pkg vs Dynamic Handling Pkg

When I bought my 2001 530i, the sport package changed the handling dynamics. It wasn't just visual aesthetics.

Now it seems if you want the sport handling you have to get the Dynamic Handling Package (on the GT) or the M sport package (on the F10 sedan).

When did BMW start separating the sport look from the sport feel?

In this country, only recently.

Other markets have had the ability to order the individual components of the sport package ala carte for at least the last 20 years.

So you can say they've separated the sporty look from the feel, but I think they're just starting to treat us like the rest of the world.
