Anyone know what the internals are in this engine?, is this the same engine as the Xm5/6?
or a cheaper build.

Great thanks for the information. This sort of confirms it - the S63 is based on the N63 with perhaps a different head and turbos. That would make sense as the N63 seems to be quite responsive to software flashes. I wonder if the bigger intercoolers used in the M models will just fit on the regular models. That would be a cheap power upgrade, too.

You are the man! This is really good info (repost or not) it should be a sticky somewhere.

Question, the PDF indicates that the X6's N63 Max boost pressure is 11.6 PSI, Dinan states that the F10/F07 N63 is 9.8 stock. Misprint or different config. F10/F07/F01 vs. E71?

550ix questions

I am new to Bimmerfest - this is a site with interesting discussions.

May someone can shed light on a few of questions regarding the 550ix:

1) Why is Self Park not compatible with the x drive?
2) Why is there no 'Comfort' mode in the Dynamic Drive?
3) Why is the HUD visibility affected ( hard to read )when wearing polarized sunglasses?

1. Because it requires electric power steering, which the xDrive does not have.
2. Because Dynamic Drive does not have adaptive / adjustable shocks / roll bars. It only alters the steering, transmission and throttle.
3. Because the image projected by the HUD is, by nature, a reflected image bounced off the windshield. By design, polarized sunglasses (or any polarized filter) is designed to eliminate / reduce reflected images (which normally occur as glare). Google polarized lens for more.
