550ix questions
I am new to the site and I have a few questions regarding the 550ix:
1)Does anyone know why Self Park is not compatible with X Drive? 2)Why is there no 'Comfort' mode in the Dynamic Drive? 3)Does it make sense that you cannot see the HUD while wearing polarized sunglasses? Otherwise, the F10 550 is a great drive with classic styling and a knockout interior. |

Self park (AKA parking assist) requires electric steering and X Drive comes with a hydraulic steering.

The LCD projector that creates the HUD image on the windshield uses a polarizing filter. The polarizing filter of your sunglasses are aligned at a right angle to the filter on the LCD projector, which almost completely blocks the light from the HUD. However, all you have to do is tilt your head a few degrees from vertical, and you can see the HUD. In some respects, I find that quite useful. The HUD is nearly invisible until you want to see it, and then you just tilt your head just slightly and you can see it. I have the HUD, and always use polarized glasses when driving in sunlight. I wouldn't let that be a deterrent to getting HUD. It is a useful addition, especially for navigation. It is the least intrusive method to use navigation of any system available. For example, if you have other business associates in the car and you are traveling to a meeting, the nav on HUD (with turn by turn sound off) will get you there without interruption or any concentration on your part.

I know this becomes an issue for those trying to cut dashboard glare, but from what I have read and understand, its mainly people without the HUD, getting glare from where the HUD projector would be.

So with hydraulic assisted steering in the X Drive models, feedback should be better than the S Drive models with the electrically assisted steering, right? Is the 'comfort' mode removed because of the M Sport package?

The M sport has a comfort mode.
