2011 vs 2012

Look at the interior in the 2012 750......that is the sport steering wheel, correct? That makes sense with the dealer bulletins saying the sport steering wheel would be standard starting in March 2011 production. In other words.....that's the car pictured right there, in and out. They aren't doing any facelift for 2012. It's coming in 2013MY......to be shown at the Beijing Autoshow in late April 2012.

The question is....how long after April 2012 will the 2013 be available?

Where did the new 6 series convertible debut at autoshow wise? And how long ago was that? That might be give us a pretty good idea of how many months after it debuts that it will be on dealer lots.

My theory is you can't order a car that you don't know what it will look like.....so if the car isn't shown until April 2012.....the earliest orders can even be made might be May 2012? Then by the time the car is produced and shipped....it likely is 3rd quarter or 4th quarter 2012 before it's on lots. Just my guess.

I would have been MAJORLY pissed off if they facelifted the 2012 after I just bought a 2011 2 months ago.

I am not seeing the convenience package (soft close doors, auto close/open trunk, keyless, memory seats etc), will this be standard on 2012 7s? Overall, the car is less expensive with similar options.

Seems to me you can order a 2012 now.

You cannot order a 2011. What are dealers going to say.....Sorry, you cant order a 7 series?? I don't think so. I will find out later today and let everybody know.

On the 750Li, if I compare 2011 to 2012, the convenience package is standard on both cars.

The 2012 base price is $1800 more than the 2011 base price.

Looks like premium sound is now standard on the 2012 which was an $1800 option before.

The big difference is the M Sport package price. I had read that the Active Roll Stabilization was going to be removed from the M Sport package for 2012, but the website doesn't show that. I suspect that may be a typo on the website and you have to add that back in.

MSport Package is now $3500 (vs $6500 before). Active Roll Stabalization can be added for $2000.

I'm not for sure what else might be missing from the M Sport Package, but it appears to be $1000 cheaper than before with all the same options.

My mistake.....it still has ARS under the M sport package. It can be ordered separate, without ordering the M Sport.

I also noticed that Smart Phone Integration was $0?? I did not see the option for 6NR or BMW Apps.

This config below for 2011 was $106,275. Not for sure why it is such a big price diff. I plan on calling the dealer today and getting some answers. Specifically headlights and trunk space and Sound Package.

Yes, that is now standard.

The supposed changes are:

Smartphone integration (6FL) now standard
Rearview Camera (3AG) now standard
Sport Steering Wheel (255) now standard

750/750Li include Premium Sound package standard

Active Roll Stabilization removed from M Sport.

BMW Apps (6NR) is supposed to be available, but I don't see it yet on the website.

Anyone know for sure about headlights and trunk space? I know I read two different stories on trunk space, one site specifically said it was larger (i know....take that with a grain of salt).

Surprised they did not add the LED Fog lights with the MSport package.

Not sure what kind of deal you had on your ordered car, but with the current incentives, you should be able to get the 2011 ordered like this in the 93k range right now. Might be able to do even better if the choice to the dealer is for you to cancel your order and have them left with a 2011 right before the changeover to 2012s.

My car was around $101K. I really feel like I got screwed now.

I plan on going by there today. Will be a tough choice for me.....take a 2011 at a significant discount and have the car by March 9th, or order a 2012 and have it by ??

If it's any consolation, I've noticed that pricing is not that much different, as Premium Sound may be standard for 2012, but it is not 'free' because the 2011 price for same - $1,800 - is simply added to the 2011 base price to get the 2012 base price. Also, I've noticed that the Build Your Own site does not account for Gas Guzzler tax; an error in need of adjustment prior to official site launch.

Otherwise, does anyone know what exactly "BMW Apps" do and whether or not they will be made available on 2011 models via software update?

Can we also get clarification on why the M Sport Package is $3,000 less, when all it excludes from it for 2012 is ARS, which is a $2,000 value, leaving $1,000 unaccounted for? The M Sport steering wheel can't be a $1,000 value, can it be...?

At the time of launch, BMW Apps will offer three functional areas (Apps, Plugin, and Video Playback).

but we still don't know if it is a software upgrade for post Sept 10 cars.

Actually that Sport steering wheel does go for about $1000-1200 even though I doubt that would be price at purchase.

Looks like I am moving to a 5 Series. I cant afford, time wise, to order a 2012 7 and wait for the damn thing.

I like the 5s, so no worries. I just can't find one config the way I want. If I don't find one by this weekend, I will be buying a diff manufacturer.

What's the problem with a 2011 7??? If that's what you wanted in the first place. It's not like the 2012s will be all that different!

True but I kinda of have a problem with buying a car and before I even get to drive it, it is already over a year old. The dealer even admitted that a 2012 is less expensive when spec'd the same. True, the 12 will not have any incentives but the price diff isn't that much. Why buy last years model if it cost almost the same? the depreciation would kill me before I ever started the car.

Probably nothing wrong with getting the 11 but its the principle of the matter for me.

EDIT: the dealer is not even willing to come down anymore on the 2011.

That's unbelievable that the dealer won't come off of the 2011 price given that there is 2500 in dealer cash and over 3100 in option credits available until end of month.

I would be finding a new dealer.
