BMW stopped putting LSD's in cold weather package cars after 95', actually any non-M after 95' for that matter.

It's not going to have an LSD, unless the available options were different in Australia.
Also, there is no such thing as a "high line edition". Welcome to the wonderful world of being swindled.

hey mate the e36 328i 98 model m sport came with factory m3 spec components it came with the m3 lsd differential, m3 5 speed gearbox with longer gear ratios, m3 cam and heads. To make sure your car has these check if your engine cover says 'M Power'. your car should also feel fairly quick and beat most commodores on the street.

Somebody help me... I'm losing an uphill battle.
I'm beginning to think that I should just have a database of pre-written responses that I can simply cut and paste to correct the regular errors that people make on a regular basis.

i have a 99 328is with the m-tech package from factory and mines not lsd. It doesnt have a different engine it just has visual components im pretty sure lol. im a newb and i know this....its pretty funny though because this has definitely been said so many times that if people just searched it like evry1 says theyd find 50 billion posts saying no e36 but the m3 was made with lsd after '95. like i said im a newb to bmws and thats pretty much the first thing i learned.....

I doesn't make sense on any level, including the gear ratios. This is aside from the fact that the E36 328 and M3 use the exact same ZF 5-speed transmission... They also use the same head (singular, BTW), and headers. And there are no 328s that came from the factory with M3 cams or "M Power" valve covers, but I digress... E90-M3_Speciali's post was pretty much wrong on every single level.

not too mention if you just look into the car your buying alittle more and google it for 15 minutes like i did you'll find all this information very easily. i learned that i shared the same gear box as the m3 so i could expect it to stick to the right on cold days like the m3's do. people need to take there time buying cars and google stuff before they rush out and spend that much money lol

Every noob knows that the only e36's built with S52 cams were the M43's, the 96+ headers are cast-iron, the '94 325is was the only year available with a big brake kit, and every high line edition 328 has a commemorative drop of BMW founder's blood denoting the red line on the tachometer (thus high line.)
