Trunk won't open

My buddies 318 is not behaving. The trunk lid won't open. I heard of a trick in which u drill a hole in below the license plate and it'll pop open..... Is this true? If not, how do we come about opening it?

Thanks,

Jorge

I had the same problem, I took it to a body shop and they fixed it in about an hour for $20. I have no idea what they did.

I think I'd go through the rear seats before drilling a hole in my trunk.

When mine stopped working it was a stupid little plastic bushing on a metal connecting rod. If the car has the fold down rear seat you can get into the boot, pull the carpet off the lid and just pull the mechanism by hand.
