xDrive delays?

My 535xi was scheduled for production this week, but I just got told on Monday that Germany has been experiencing delays for xDrives in both the 3 and 5ers. That's disheartening news after waiting almost four months from the order date.

Anyone else hear about this? I wonder if anything's wrong with them.

I ordered mine mid-January and it's half way across Atlantic tonight on Faust cargo ship. Sorry to hear about your wait.

When I made my order back in November, they said the next production would be March.

Red alert!

I ordered on 12/22 and it's almost to port in the US. I consider the wait too long at that.

Thanks for the info. This must be a dealer-specific issue then. At least we know it's nothing wrong with the cars themselves and that it's probably just an allocation issue.

Yeah. It may be a dealer specific thing. I ordered an 535 ix on 02/09. Production completed 02/24. It's on it's way to the Baltimore port. Ship left yesterday and scheduled to arrive 03/14.

Ordered 2/16, started production 2/21 and scheduled for completion today. Dealer had several "stock cars" that were near production on order and converted one to my ride. Sounds like your dealer may have sold out his near production stock and you had to wait in the full queue.

I ordered my 535xi on 2/14 and it had completed production on 3/2. (Some of the delay may have been because I requested a March build date so I could get the new iPhone app option). It's currently on the train heading toward to the port. I'm sure the wait for it to float across the Atlantic and eventually make its way to Chicago will be excruciating...)

RWD - March 1st, xDrive - April 1st

I ordered a 550i xDrive MSport on Feb 19th, requesting a March built with the new options.
The dealer told me that from March 1st BMW will start production just on RWD cars with the new options (color HUD, black panel, BMW Apps) and from April 1st the xDrive starts production. My car is supposed to be built first week of April and I should take delivery early June.

Hmmmm. I wonder if that applies to just 550s? I got a March production 530xi which is currently making its way to the port in Germany (I hope...)

Interesting. I wasn't even told that. A date certain would be nice as opposed to some type of general delay that could go several months further.

I just spoke to my dealer he did not have any bulletins that reflect your same information.

Not sure but one of the bulletins did say, "BMW Apps will be available on all BMW vehicles as of March except for X3, X5, and X6 models, where availability will begin as of April. iPhone models supported include 3G, 3GS or 4 enabled with the "BMW Connected" app available free of charge at Apple's App Store." could your information be an interpretation of this?

Also, I have tried but have found no one who has told me that the color HUD will be in US models as of March (or April for that matter) 2011 production. One sales manager told me it will not and others say they don't know anything.

6WA instrument cluster with extended contents (which seems to be the black panel) does appear to be on March builds.

Is March build defined as March start, March 1 and forward, or March completion such as March 2nd? I'm guessing the former but would be nice if it was latter. Thanks.

Someone posted that it is the completion date but I've asked the same question and not sure if that is correct.

The new options are as of week 9 2011, based on some UK documents posted, which is this week starting last Sunday (27 Feb through 5 March).

Hopefully someone has more compete or accurate information to resolve all the concerns.

I want to know more about the color HUD too, as I ordered mine specifically because it was full color and not the old one.

My 535xi (complete with the post-March build options), was completed on 3/2, so I'm guessing it refers to completion date, not start date.
