X3 xDrive 35i M-Sport No Top Speed Limiter for US market?
I was looking at the US build sheet for 4/2011 SOP and the ZMP M Sport Package does NOT get option 840 Increased top speed limiter.
However, the ZAP Sport Activity Package if the 19 inch rim mixed performance tires 2B7 is ordered, then 840 is added. This doesn't make any sense, as the E83 M Sport packages had 840 added. I know the car is limited at 130 mph and the 840 Increased top speed limiter increases the speed to 150 mph, but its the point behind BMW marketing "M..The Most Powerful Letter In The World" This has been confirmed by a SA to me. Also, ZMP is not offered with mixed performance tires (as the E83 M Sport was offered), so this makes the decision to order 20'' M Double Spoke Style 310 Rims much easier. Finally, is ZDH-Dynamic Handling Package (223, 2VG, 2VL) included in the ZMP-M Sport Package? I have attached page 62 of the BMWNA catalog. Thanks.

The top speed limiter is dependent on the type of tyres fitted to the vehicle. The standard vehicles have all-season, H-rated tires which themselves shouldn't be driven more than 210km/h. The vehicles with "840 Increased Top Speed" have summer tires, which are Y rated (I think, its above 250km/h anyway) and can handle the higher speeds.

Makes sense, but wouldn't one think that a M Sports package option would be offered with higher speeds with mixed performance tires? The German market gets the M Sport with M369 with mixed performance tires (2NE), but US market gets 2A8 instead. Same rim style.
I was told 2A8 can't be switched for 2NE, which is both M369 rims, but all-seaons vs performance.
