X3 Comfort Access

What happened to the sensors for the back doors for comfort access on the X3? Our 08 X5 had them on the back doors as did our 07, 08, and 11 528i's. This is really annoying and seems like BMW really picked a poor place to cut corners.

There are no sensors on the back door of the 3 series, so I guess they're keeping the lines the same. As you said, this is a 5 series / X5 "luxury" feature.

The 1er/3er/X3 do not have sensors on the rear doors, hence why it's only $500 (or something like that) versus $1000 for the 5er and X5 which have it on all 4 door handles. It's not cost-cutting, rather the X3 isn't quite the 'luxury' SUV of the X5. It's the same reason you don't see the Lane Departure Warning or Blind Spot Assist like what's available on a 5er.

When I went to my dealer for the X3 Experience event, I noticed the x35i we drove had the Comfort Access ridges on the door handles of both doors on the driver's side. I didn't test the rear door to see if it functioned, but it looked as if it would. Anybody else noticed the ridges?
