2011 Texas Z Series Spring Drive

Here it is! The 2011 Texas Sring Drive website is now up and available for registration. The drive will start in Brenham TX on April 2nd, 2001 @ 8:30 AM. There will not be any gathering Friday night although some of us will be in Brenham. Please check back with the website as we will be updating it with more infomation as we work out the details.

Well, Brenham is about 1200 miles from where we are in SC. I was hoping I was closer once I moved down here! I'll see what I can do. Rachel and I were planning on riding motorcycles to New Orleans and returning to SC on April 3rd, so we'd already be most of the way there.

Although you could drive the M coupe and leave it with me! Seriously, the drive starts in Brenham but ends about 150 miles farther east. You know we would love to have you and Rachel join us.

I'm signed up.

Hope we don't get snow because I don't want to spend another 8 hours at a truck stop in Walsenburg while they clear Raton pass as we did in 2005.

This is just prior to the road being closed.

I've thought about joining you good folks some year, but the 2005 pic captures the challenge, well! Planning any road trip involving the roadster for our early spring or late fall
is tricky. That I-25 shot looks like something I wouldn't enjoy even in my X3 with snow tires!!!

The early spring here in Texas is one of the pleasures we get to enjoy and was the reason we picked then to hold the drive. It allows those still in the throes of winter to get a bit of a respite. Our wildflowers are usually in full glory and worth the trip. That is if mother nature allows you to leave the the dreary confines of the north in winter.

Due to an Antiques Fair near Brenham hotel rooms are non-existent. Navasota (25 miles away) has rooms. Some of us are staying at the Comfort Inn. The website has been updated with hotel and food info for Lufkin.

There have been a few updates to the website.

Fred - looks like I'm out due to conflict with Final Four in Houston that weekend. I really wanted to go this year.

This will be the last drive I put on. Gonna pass the drive down to others and I'll just be a spectator.

I'll get the website updated when I return if there are any new registrations.

Sorry I'm going to miss it. I'll be in the Big Bend that weeked.

I would love to head out that way but we are doing a North Ga trip the weekend before so that one will have to wait till next year.
