Question Z4 03' 2.5 Warning light after changing wheels.

I recently changed the wheels on my Z4, I switched from the stock 17" to an 18" wheel and tire. The first time I drove it afterwards, a Red exclamation point warning light popped up. I have seen from other posts that this is either a tire pressure warning or DSC. I changed the wheels myself, used a torque wrench to the correct 88lbs. I checked the tire pressure and corrected it to factory specs. Is this some sort of error due to changing wheel size or just a coincidence? Any thoughts or comments by someone who has experienced this would be greatly appreciated.

FYI: 03' Z4 2.5 23k miles, and new tire size is 225/40R18

dsc

I put tires of slightly different sizes on my car and the dsc in my case asc would come on.
2 new and 2 used tires did it to me.
i had to replace the 2 used tires to get it to go off.

All four tires are the same size and condition. It seems to be driving the same, if not a little better.

Something may not be the right size. Double check each tire has the correct size printed on the sidewall. If someone someplace pulled those tires out of stock, there is a chance one is the wrong size. Or, if they are not factory sizes and are staggered someone may have looked up or recommended the wrong sizes for front or rear. The possibility also exists that the magnetic ring or it's sensor was somehow damaged during the install. I know it's a dumb thing, but if they are staggered, make sure both wide tires were mounted on the back on the wide rims. A lot of times it's the silliest things that get missed that can cause an issue like this.

Oh, one more thing. If it's the tire pressure light, (the light looks like the tread of half a tire facing you front ways) just reset it by holding in the reset button located near your ashtray. The switch may have made the light go on and it just needs to re learn the new tires. I can't recall, but I think the DSC light is yellow. As long as the light does not come once re set you are good.

I agree, I think you have to re-initialize your tire system when you change your tires. I read someplace the system does not actually read the actual pressure in your tire, but the DIFFERENCE in pressure from the baseline you set at initialization.

Sorry - same as my wife's 530 then.

Is the overall wheel + tire height still the same? Maybe the sensor(s) detected a change in rotation speed?

Or maybe a bad sensor?
