2012 future owners

I ordered on 3/15, signed papers, got my production number. CA that night, and then again this morning, 3/31 - tells me that they cannot give me production week because that information is not available to them. They estimated delivery end of April - 6 weeks.

Is that true? According to several threads here seems not to be the case. Suggestions for how I can get production week?

At the 1.800 number - shows as scheduled for production with no date set....

That's probably the truth. We were in your stage until yesterday.
Your order is in the system and ready to produce at any date depends on dealer's allocation.

I was under the impression the dealer knew their allocation dates? Is that not the case? That would then explain....

dealer requested the proposed production date when they entered your order in their system, here is portion of the screen shot of my order, which was requested of production week 14

The website was also updated but the 20" wheels and the BMW apps are not listed. Anyone else missing anything in their config? Is that usual or a call to the stealership is in place?

Our order also got some options missing on website but are in dealer's vehicle inquiry report, hopefully the web site is not accurate;

I have asked the dealer to get option list on our order, they usually could do so with VIN#, but somehow they coundn't pull those data yet today, the system may not release that data yet.

Anyway, tommorow is the official date 2012 started. BMW website should be updated to show 2012 config officially.

The thing bothering me most is the standard options listed under my 2012 X5 35i on website is largely different than the online ordering guide I got from stealership.

PDC, power tailgate, lumbar support etc are listed as standard for 2012 35i base in online ordering guide, but these are all missing under my x5 on website. That may indicate BMW may screw up the online ordering guide and the information listed there is wrong.

Good to know that. I wrote BMW anyway, given I specifically wanted the 20s and the BMW apps. Once they reply I'll post here.

The stealership already messed up my order by saying that the vent seat package could not be matched w/ the M package (some issue with wiring for the vented seats) and they also forgot to add multi contour seat, which had them go back and redo the order.

If a option "delete stealership participation" was available I bet a lot of petrol heads would opt for it...

Tomorrow is also day to check Costco, eBay and Edmunds pricing, print them and prepare a kleenex box to cry some extra discount. I know it's peanuts, but they are hardly earned...

Also tomorrow the new APR< which allegedly will show an additional 1% in all plans. BofA and most credit unions can do better than that.

The website is messed up.

It does not show the interior color name, just the swatch.

It didn't show BMW apps, spare tire, and 19" wheel option on our order.
We reconfirmed everything was ok in the order system.

Luckily it did show bamboo (dealership had that wrong and we corrected prior week).

I just called in the 800 number and it said "your vehicle is in the paint shop, estimated completion date 3/31" (today).

I would have thought the cars/bodies go through the paint process before they are assembled?

Paint shop looks like in the early stage of production.

My CA told me that the BMW Apps option was not available on 2012 X5s ordered before April 1st (a call to BMW Canada confirmed that).

Don't think that's true. I ordered mine March 5th with BMW apps and the manifest from the factory that my CA sent me definitely has it on there. I just checked it again...6NR, BMW apps. It is not unusual to have options missing from the tracking site.

Maybe it's a Canadian thing. It wouldn't be the first time that Canada would lag the US in terms of new products or features (e.g. iPhone, iPad, HBO, etc.).

That's more likely, agreed.
The BMW apps is allegedly available for cars built from March 11-on; which would be the 2012 models.

They go from body shop to paint shop to assembly. If you go to the BMW factory webpage, you can watch a video of each of these 3 steps. While you're waiting for your car, particularly if it's currently being produced, they're pretty neat to watch.

Each of these steps takes a day...they happened in 3 consecutive days for me. However, the phone system, although more accurate than the tracking website, is not always entirely accurate. On Thursday, the website said my car was in the paint shop, with estimated completion date of 4/1. When I called yesterday to see if it was in final assembly, it said it was still in the paint shop with estimated completion on 4/2. However, it was actually in Assembly, and it was completed yesterday. My CA just called me this morning to inform me that it's at the preparation center and should be delivered to the dealership this Wednesday!!

When I ordered the car on 3/5, I was told that production would begin this week, and it would be ready sometime late April / early May. Turns out, I'll be driving it by next weekend. I'm very happy that it happened a month early, but still seems like it's been forever!

Yeah I got an email that the car was built and would be here in a couple of weeks. 2 wks by train to CA< then a week by truck up here.

Well, that sucks. I didn't even know it was an option for the 2012 when I ordered my X5.

Great site!!!! It has invoice pricing for 2012's and 2012 options!

It does seem to have MACO wrong for my area, and it missed training. My car has $600 for MACO+training in the invoice. ($400+$200). Truecar said there was $500 for MACO, so the invoice price differed from mine by $100. (Though to be fair, I haven't seen the invoice, this is from a cut and paste from my CA)

Phone production status says "your vehicle is complete and at the port awaiting a shipping vessel". I assume they mean the train to Oxnard.
I'm sure you east coast guys will get yours first. And someone will post a LED angel eye picture here when they get it.

I wonder how long to Houston ...

Hey guys i'm new. Ordered my 2012 X5M on 3/11 and it was completed on 4/1, my dealership should have it later this week.

Yes, some may not be applicable. But on my X5 order they used the term "port of exit" and when I chose to speak with a representative, they said in some cases they use the same terminology regardless of location.

Some of these steps did not appear in my process. The timeline may have been condensed or they all may simply not be applicable. However, every message that I did receive is included in this list, so I thought I'd post the whole thing.

What is it with all the noobs here who find the term "stealership" so amusing? With all the info that they've posted (location, production status, colors, options, etc.) it would be pretty easy for their CA to figure out who's doing the name-calling. Pretty classless, IMHO. Hope you never need to ask your CA or your center for a favor.....
