Battery Drain
I have a 1991 BMW 735i. Extremely clean and regularly serviced with only 201,000 miles. For the past 4-6 months the battery has been drained if not run at least every 3 days. Electric door locks would not operate properly for the past year. Have to turn twice to open and to lock. Always pop back the oposite direction. Had a technician repair door locks and he thought he had the battery drain problem resolved. However, if the car was not driven every 2 days the batter would drain. Now will drain dead before even one day. New battery. Read one of these BMW sites and MANY had the same problem but found that replacing an FSR (Final Stage REsister) corrected the problem. Dealers have never heard of such a part and I cannot fine anyone who knows what I am talking about. Could someone tell me: WHAT FSR, Where to buy a replacement, Price of the part.?? Other than replacing water pump and radiator I have not had any problems with the Beamer until now. Thanks.

The FSR is a resistor that operates your fan. I had the same problem with the battery draining. The fan would come on & off intermittently with the car off and drain the battery. I can't believe the dealer dosn't know what it is. You can order them off of ebay and other online stores that sell bmw parts. Very easy to find. Just make sure it is for your model car.
