Speedo!!

I have a 1987 325i with a bouncing Speedometer...I would like to fix that...
The face says electronic..what are my options...I have a Chilton Manual..and pretty good mechanical skillz...but this is my first foriegn car...Used to street a 1969 Camaro Z..

thatll be from a voltage jump from either the alternator or the sensor at the tranny, loose wires, bad ground. so any way you look at it, itll most likely be an electrical issue

i'm willing to bet it's your wires connecting the plug to your differential.

I should also mention the odo isnt working..The speedo wires go to the rear diff???Damn!THats different!

I've had this issue for years but I know what my problem is I'm just to lazy to fix it .... check the connection at the rear then the connection in the cluster ...... leave your alty alone

Your odometer runs off your speedo. When your speedo doesn't work your odometer doesn't. It's most likely the wires connecting it to the differential like I said earlier. Clean them up or get a new plug. My wires were frayed apart leaving 2-3 wires attached which was not enough connection. Rewired it and works like new. Took about 5 minutes.
