2012 x3?

Is it true that you will be able to order 2012 X3's in April? A dealer told me that over e-mail and I not sure I beleive them...

You can order 2012 X5's in April; now actually.

I think their on a December cycle?

BMW is too dependent on current model year residuals for it to be December. Production on '12's will probably begin after summer shutdown, which is he typical timeline (mid July) in the industry.

I was told by the manager of my dealership that the 12's would out in summer. My CA told me April as well and also said the package configurations would be changing, so I went above him for an answer. Don't know if you can believe either!!

2011 x3 production will continue into June with June allocation released to dealers on May 6.

So, does that mean 2012 production will start in July?

Not until fall, I think.

Let's take a different approach to this...

When do you need a new vehicle? If your answer is before August (like me) then you'll be buying an '11 regardless....if it doesn't matter then I think you'll be making your decision based on speculation on forums like this. I doubt anyone here will know for sure what the model year cycle looks like. (unless they work for BMW corporate....and even then probably not 100% sure) We can go on "typical" cycles but with this being a new vehicle, I have to think they will want the '11s out there before doing anything with '12s. In all reality the 11's have only been shipping since about December (USA) so BMW will want some life out of that year.

For me...my lease is up soon so it doesn't matter if I want a '12 or not...I need a car. If you have the luxury of waiting, then wait until July/Auguest and see what BMW says...but if they say the '12s won't ship until January don't be disappointed b/c it was a chance you took all along.

Makes sense to me, it's also doubtful if the 2012 will be at all different from the 2011. My guess is only the "name" will change. Much too soon for LCI.

My CA said the only thing changing for the 2012's will be how the packages are set up. He said the grouping will change on what features can be bought together or separate when configuring the vehicle.

no info has been released yet to any dealer on what will happen in 2012. look around July for 2012 details.

I wish BMW would add ACC (Active Cruise Control) and ventilated seats as options, but I guess they want customers to move up to the X5 if they want those options.

x2... but there is no conspiracy to get people to "move up"... it's just a matter of if the option would sell...but I certainly could use ventilated here in fla....

Actually for those of you who lease it makes a significant difference. The residuals on a '12 will be higher going into your lease term.
