87 535IS cylinder 1 exhaust rocker arm broke cleanly. Is there a way to replace without pulling the head.
Thanks, kchemers |

Get yourself a copy of the Bentley's manual as it has a detailed disassembly description. You might have better luck by going on Mye28.com and searching or asking for guidance there.

You cannot remove the rocker shafts with the head installed as the rocker shafts have to be removed rearwards, If you do strip the head you must check EVERY componant for wear and replace all worn items because if you don't you will have further trouble and another strip down. Another major tip is to have a groove 2 mm deep milled around the shanks of the the camshaft oil spraybar banjo's ( both of them ) around and covering the area of the three oil outlet holes as when these are fitted in place oil does not not exit the banjo's properly which starves the camshaft of oil which causes premature wear, This is very important so please take note, Find a local engineering shop to do this for you, Good luck.
