Mein Auto: Audi A3 - X1 on order!!
Just picked it up!!!

Loving it, although it may take me a few weeks to figure out all of the gizmo's and we could not get bmw apps and connected drive to work through the docking system. It was getting late so we did not spend to much time playing around with it.

Pictures and details over the weekend!! Stay tuned!!

Figured out the problem... it is the snap in adaptor BMW in their wisdom makes THREE different adaptors for the Iphone 3G/S. You need (I think) part number 84212218391 to make BMW apps and music etc. work. I got part number 84212151038 which only charges and links to the external antenna for reception.

Going to talk to my guy at the dealer tomorrow and see about a swap.

I think you are right. I wonder what the extra approx. $100 is for?.

They physically look the same, same housing etc. only difference can be in the wiring connections internally. Really makes no sense to have more than one option, probably just a money grab.......

I'm getting the BMW apps too and would like to know whether the adapter is necessary, or could I just use Bluetooth? I really hope so as then I can wait for iPhone 5. Otherwise I'll need to get an iPhone 4 which will be obsolete-ish in 5 months. sigh.

You need the snap in adaptor to utilize the console interface. Without it you will not be able to utilize bmw apps. Via the front console USB and a standard ipod cable you can see all your music, display cover art etc and you can use the phone function via bluetooth without plugging anything in at all.

But, if you want the apps or to charge in the centre console with no visible wires you need the snap in adaptor.

Is your PDC both front and rear? I could never be sure, but hoping it is both.

PDC is rear only on the X1, well in Canada at least, not sure about the ROW. Works well, I know now that full yellow bars puts me in the exact right spot in my garage. Worth it for that alone.

Looks great! Like the wheels. Did that stickon cupholder come with the car?

Thanks. There is a discussion on E84.xbimmers.com about whether it comes standard and it looks like RHD cars don't get it.

Makes sense, I think they only build one console, so the cupholder in RHD's would be in the drivers knee.

You definitely get it as part of the car here in Canada.

I have also ordered in the correct Snap in Adaptor. 7-10 days delivery. It seems there are NONE!!! in Canada, so it is being brought in from Germany.

You would think that with BMW apps launching in almost all cars for April builds on, that BMW Canada might have ordered a few in for customers

The bad news for you my friend is that it seems BMWUSA has just announced that they will NOT be bringing in any X1's until at least Fall 2012!! That is pushed back a year from the earlier announcement of fall this year.

Too bad, as it is a sweet ride!!

The X3 is selling really well, and no offence intended, my american friends seem to follow the bigger is better theory......

On a side note, I registered with BMW assist yesterday (Love the button on the headliner!!) and I was the first X1 that had been set up on their system! In fact the service rep had to manually enter the model info as it did not display automatically which he thought was strange as normally that comes straight up on the screen.

The exterior is nicer looking than the X3 by a long mile. Headlights are MUCH better.

Yeah, i'm going to order the adapter ahead of time too. Also need to buy an iPhone 4 for the apps.
Keep blazing the trail!

Car may make boat today (10% chance) but most likely next Wednesday which will put it into Haifax 05/30. Sigh.

Good luck with your shipping, once it was on the boat mine was very quick to arrive!

Please note the part number I have ordered is for the iphone 3GS. The part number for the iphone 4 is different.

Your part number should be #84212218390 for an iphone 4, however I make no warranty or guarantee with regard to how correct that is!!
