On a related note: I had my DICE iPod kit installed for a few months now. So far my experience is somewhat mixed. On one hand, the kit, when it works allows pretty good control of the iPod, although, I find that the radio text feature is moderately useful given the delay in displaying the text.
The low point of the solution for me is that from time to time (seems to be random but more or less related to not driving the car for a day or more) the iPod or DICE resets and starts playing iPod songs from the begining of song list. This means that the ALBUM switching mode on iPod does not work properly (moves a few songs seamingly at random). I have to manually take the iPod from the glove box and set it to play ALL albums. Anyone has experienced anything similar? Or is it just my iPod / DICE? |

I have been communicating with you to get my ice>link Plus to work on my 2007 X3 with NAV. I get the songs listing but no sound. The 6-pin connectors pins (BMW & ice>link) used dont match: BMW ice>link Pin 1- while/blue Red (Audio Signal) Pin 2-while/brown Pin 7-white/red White (Audio Signal) Pin 8- Black (Shield) It would helpful if you can provide the pins functions which pins should be connected. |

IF you are not getting audio, check to see if you are connected to the correct 6-pin adapter in the center console area, or you may need to swap the white 12-pin connector behind the radio. If you continue to have problems, it is recommend you upgrade to the DICE as the ice>Links are very problematic.

Tel Send End
so, i'm having the same no sound issue, when I use the trunk or the center counsel... but DO get track names. Now, when I use the other white connector, I get sound, but I also get TEL and SEND/END on the radion, rather the CDC.. is that what is supposed to happen?
Because, I noticed it completely screwed with my bluetooth integration. and phone contacts would not match their phone numbers. I swapped the white cd-sars connector tonight on the radio (and dropped a screw behind it all ... it figures) but still no sound. just a clicking noise. HELP! please. kev

Hi Tom: nope, Sacramento. I appreciate the offer though. i've also noticed the track name does NOT go away when i turn off the car... much like the BT wont turn off the phone if you turn off the car in the middle of a conversation. it's like it's still playing, but no sound comes through, and only part of the track name shows, like it's cut in half or something.
thanks kevin

Was anyone able to resolve the issue? It is now March 2011, and we are still having the exact same issue as 4-5 years ago!

BMW no sound troubleshooting
I had the same problem. My friend tightened the fuses seat in the trunk and in the glove compartment. Specially the ones in the trunk open wide and although the fuse lights OK is not enough for the radio or Power Amp to work. Spray some contact cleaner and pry tight the metals in the fuse housing. Good luck!

(for a X3 without navi and satelite radio)
If you have this problem, just plug directly the cable at the back of the radio. For this, you will need 3 repair kit wire and a connector. Take one of the two connector at the back of the radio (CD changer or satelite radio). The rapair wire (3X) was took at the VW dealer (SN: 000 979 009). This is the chart for the pinout: DICE cable-------connector 1-White-----------pin 8 2-Black-----------pin 2 3-empty 4-Red-------------pin 9 5-black-----------useless 6-empty As you can see, one of the two black wire is useless. Plug the other 3 wires harness normaly in the connector (Under the armrest console - CD changer) Good luck in your mod. Last edited by 00Bob; 05-02-2011 at 06:21 AM. |

(for a 2010 X3 with navigation and no-CD changer
I installed the Dice this weekend. It is easy once you read some of the tips here and see some of the youtube videos. Anyway my 2010 X3 did not come with the CD changer in the center console or the back. The console did not have both the 6 and 3pin connectors required to hook up. Thus requiring the hook up to the cable connectors located in the rear of the vehicle. This required the removal of the back seat and side cushion, routing through the rear seat trim and under the carpet to the center console which also needed to be opened up enough to route the wires. Set the dip switches on the Dice device to NAV Radio setting, disconnected the battery, connected the dice unit and reconnected the battery. The Nav system recognized the ipod but no sound. Very frustrating. It appears that since my X3 did not come with the CD changer BMW did not hook up the white CD SARS wire to the back of the radio. Once I took apart the dash and hooked up the wire everything worked. Hope this helps someone else save some time.
