Whining noise when coasting down hill

Is it normal to hear a whining sound when coasting down a hill in a 2007 x3. This only happens when I take foot off the gas. Once I accelerate it stops. It seems like it happened after my tires were rotated, but it could have always happened. I tend to have my radio turned up real loud and may never have heard it before.

You might want to try the other X3 forum that covers the year of your car.

This problem has been discussed over there. It usually is the tires as I recall. BMW does not recommend rotation of tires, so that may be the reason you are hearing the "singing" or whine from yours now.

Hey, feel free to visit all the forums (foraii?) you will get a better answer in the one for your particular vehicle though. It was probably the rotation of the tires that caused the whine.

I used to have a bad whining noise when coasting down hills, but I don't let her ride with me anymore if there are going to be hills.
