Have you paired other phones to make sure you are doing it correctly? Correct code entered? I think there is a fixed code depending on your car.

I paired my IPhone 4 to my 08 M Roadster no problem. It all hinges on the code you need to pair it. Every Z has it's own code. It should be in the owners manual on a separate sheet of paper. I heard if the code is missing, you have to locate the blue tooth module in the car and it's on a sticker on the module, but that is second hand info. If you just need to know the procedure, look online for the telephone and communication manual that comes with the car, it has to be posted someplace. If you can't find it, repost such and I will locate mine and post the procedure. My IPhone recognizes the car as BMW54xxx. Once paired, it should connect every time your car is started and your phone is in range ( as long as your Bluetooth is on).

The Bluetooth code is on your module as a backup if needed.

I have the assist and the code on a separate card with the manual. I'll try again as my research shows the car is only able to pair in first 45-60 secs of ignition.
Thanks guys I'll post of it works. |

Now it detects the car but says the pin is invalid. Any notes ?

Check the module and make sure you are using the right code. Try putting an extra zero before or after the pin. Try pairing another iPhone with the same code and see if it works. Disconnect the car battery for a minute, then do a full shut down and restart on your iPhone - then try to pair again. My IMac lost its bluetooth one day - 2 hrs later I fixed it by just rebooting everything. Bluetooth sometimes can be funny. Try using all zeros for the pin. If all else fails, maybe your car had the bluetooth module replaced at one point and it changed the pin. In that case, I guess the correct code should be on the module. A last resort, if you bought your car at a BMW dealership ask them to help you pair it. My salesman paired my IPhone as part of the car delivery tutorial. Even if not, I can't imagine they would charge to much to help you pair your phone. Does the phone pair with other devices?

For those of you using the factory bluetooth with the iphone 4 or 3GS, can you connect to the iphone's voice commands using the steering wheel 'phone' button and dial using the iphone directory (and use other iphone voice commands)? Or are you restricted to making calls using the BMW voice recognition, and the phone directory entries you have set up on the factory TCU?

Using pin code shown on your card? PK = 1234 (or whatever your pass code is).

I know I am able to browse my contacts on my phone using the NAV screen menus. Not sure about voice dialing as I haven't used it.
