Finally arrived...

I finally got down to NJ and picked up my new toy. Rained all the way home. (250 Miles) Great way to pick up a new car though other than the fact it needs a good detail already.
Mike at BMW of Morristown was awesome to work with.

Did they charge you the Doc fee of $400 plus. I went there and when I saw that, it was a deal killer. It is all extra profit.

Our document fee is just below $400. I recommend people look at the overall deal when comparing our pricing offers. Many people think we are very fair, and love the service we provide!

The fact is that we need to make a bit of profit to stay in business. But that way, we'll be here for when you might need us next time! --Mike

Michigan has a limit of $190.00. NJ has no limit.

$400 seems outrageous but if there is no limit in NJ then it is not wrong per se. I also agree that the overall deal has to be looked at. If the dealer will sell the car for $100 over invoice instead of $500 then that is fair.

It's egregious. That also drove me away from Morristown.....$400 to push some paper or, actually, sign a few computer screens for lease docs? I work too hard for my $ to pay that when the next guy will gladly take my biz at 500 over and $150 doc fee.

I will say this. Yes there was the Doc Fee but I was pleased with the overall deal. I am aware that the Doc fee is nothing but profit and I mentioned that to Mike several times (he chuckled) and while I also do not want to throw my money away, there is more to the deal than just the bottom line. Could I have saved a few hundred more, probably but Mike and all the folks at Morristown BMW were great to work with and that has value to me.

I do try to get a good deal but the overall package is just as important. Mike gave me a good deal and has also got me a few extra things that I asked for and he could have charged me for. Again, all part of the "package." Now we need a new 3 series for my wife...

Thanks again, Mike.

getting a doc fee pulled is usually way above even a sales manager's power as it's usually a corporation/executive fee. When I bought my accord I just took the doc fee into account and looked at the bottom line and the total reduction. No problem. I also wanted a relationship with my dealer where I could call my sales guy for ANYTHING and he would do it. I told him that, and then offered something reasonable to him and me. He took it and to this day anything I need, including service or lift home and he does it. Relationships are far more important to me that making sure I get the absolute lowest price on the planet.

Just my opin, YMMV....

I agree with the two posts above. A good relationship is far more valuable than saving a couple hundred dollars.

Congratulations!
That is almost the same color combo as what I ordered except I got the aluminum interior trim.
Looks Great! Can't wait to get mine!

PS Bottom line and if you happy with the car/deal is what matters. Someone is always going to get a better deal than you did.

On the (non-BMW) car that I purchased this week, I paid dealer invoice and a $350 doc fee. I wasn't happy about the doc fee, but I was more than happy about the invoice pricing. Even with the holdback, I saved more than the dealer made. Dealers have mortgages on their homes like most of us, and they need to eat too. I prefer a deal where both sides win a little and give a little.
