E. coli outbreak in Germany

Hello everybody
I was reading CNN Euronews last few days and got very concerned about outbreak of E. coli infection in Northern Germany
I am not ID doctor, but that particular strain of E.coli seems to be pretty deadly/16 people died in Germany and 1 in Sweden-she traveled to Germany/
Question for those who are already there-do you see any public alerts, restrictions, concerns etc
and for those of us that will be traveling to Germany and Europe should we be concerned?
Again do not want to create anxiety, but REASONABLE concern

Limit your menu choices to bratwurst, pretzels, and bier - that will definitely limit E.coli exposure

Seriously - I would be cautious and likely skip the salads, particularly with cucumbers in them.

If u do develop symptoms seek medical attention promptly, time is critical with this bug to prevent irreversible organ damage.

So far it is centered way up North, and except for the ample press coverage there are no visible signs in our area, and no shortage of things to eat.

I for one will avoid raw cucumbers, tomatoes and lettuce next month while on our ED trip.

We were in southern Germany (Bavaria and Baden-Württemburg) from 5/11 - 5/25. We watched the news and looked at the newspaper headlines (not that we understood most of it) but didn't see or hear any mention of an outbreak. I had salads at several meals with no problem.

This may have been earlier than the problems up north. Hopefully it won't spread south.
