Rumor: X1 ///M - Would you buy it?

If BMW turns out an M division X1, which would probably be called a X1 M based on the X5/X6 naming scheme, would you buy it? Sources say it would use a biturbo, while not mentioned specifically I assume its the N54 from the 1 Coupe M.

An X1 with 320 hp would move you and all your Sports Activity (a play on BMWs SAV) stuff around really quick!

According to the latest media reports, it appears that Bmw is seriously considering an M version of the X1 crossover. Sources say that the new car may use a 3.0-liter biturbo engine capable to deliver around 320 hp, enough to be able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.0 seconds

This might be a moot question for those of us in the USA, since BMW can't even figure out when (or even if) we're going to get the "normal" models.

No. The X5 and X6 M models are already ridiculous. BMW clearly just wants an M model of everything so it can emulate AMG and gain market share.

I could care less if they did an ///M version as long as they had the M Sport models that are available in the UK. However, my concern is with price, because these things were supposed to be in the $30k range, and right now the X1 xDrive18d SE converts to $41,888 (and that's base model). The US model X3 xDrive35i is $41,050.
Now granted, Euro models tend to be much more expensive than US models, with US cars being somewhere around 70% of the price of UK cars, but I think BMW needs to put out a pricing guideline first to let people know how much everything is going to cost. Theoretically, the X1 xDrive23d M Sport (top model/best model) should cost around $35,770, so using the same formulation as the current X5 xDrive50i ($63,800) vs X5M ($86,400) = X5M costing 135% of the price of the X5, we come up with the theoretical price of the X1M of about $48,300.

So, the question will be: "How close will BMW get to this number?"

But then and again, M cars get expensive very quickly with packages and options, so theoretically, we're talking about a $50-60k vehicle here.
