TIRRANNA is going bonkers...who else's BMW is on that ship?!

This is the first time I did an ED. My car is on this vessel called TIRRANNA. It departed from BREMERHAVEN about two days ago.

I have been checking on the vessel since last night and I realized it's been going around circles for so many hours just right out of the ZEEBRUGGE port, which is supposed to be its next destination. It's been circling around that port for some many hours.

Go to http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/shi...00&header=true and click on the Current Vessel's Track link and you will see what the heck I'm talking about. You need to zoom in a bit to see the activity.

It is really funny that it is doing it...maybe, all vessels do that...I'm not sure.

Some funny activities there close to ZEEBRUGGE...Some drunk sailor, perhaps!

Interesting. Sometimes ships do a holding pattern (much like airplanes) when the wait is going to be minimal (an hour or two). It's much easier than dropping an anchor.

This one, however, is quite intense, but I suspect there may be inaccurate waypoint reporting which is causing the funny track. When my ship started its crossing from Southampton, for some reason a waypoint by Iceland was reported, so it's track was this perfectly straight southwest line, then a mad dart to Iceland, and then another dart back to its southwest line.

I was hoping to be on the Tirranna but I will likely be on the Otello departing this week and arrving in Halifax on May 31.

Same here. Currently Otello is steaming toward Bremerhaven and is to be in port at 3pm EDT. But I think that is optimistic.

I am on the Tirranna, been tracking it since it left Bremerhaven, Now it just went out of range on marinetraffic.

I'm on the TIRRANNA as well. It still says its scheduled into NY on 5/25.

Well I've always heard those Scandinavians love the sun..just hope they don't return to the Mediterranean (as their itinerary shows they were there 2 weeks ago) with all your cars instead of heading to North America!

Looks like the Otello is heading for some moored ships. Doesn't look good. I am going to start a seperate thread for the Otello.

She has arrived in port at New York today. This wait is killing me!

Don't get your hopes up. My car was on the Faust which made New York last Thursday; my car is still in Customs.

Now, we will wait another 3 weeks

What's your best guess in terms of customs release?
I'd say we should expect to get our car around 14th...at the dealership, that is.

I dunno. My understanding is that it's a real crap shoot. It could be 5 days or it could be weeks. It will be weeks if Customs decides to go over your car with a fine-tooth comb. Apparently they pick out about 10-15 cars per shipment and use X-rays and other devices to make sure that you aren't using the car to smuggle in drugs or money. They charge the car makers for the work so it's a real money maker for them.

No update on W&W yet.....what's up?! Cars are still on the ship?!

She's on her way to Charleston. May the customs god shine upon us.

The last w&w update I have is that the car was discharged in NY on 5/26 and delivered in New York on 5/27. I called my CA earlier in the week and they had no more information than I had.She did mention that because of the holiday and the end of the month that she expected that I wouldn't have the car until mid June.

I'll be picking my car this evening.....Since drop off, it took only 4.5 weeks. Wish you guys the best!

Congrats. Did your w&w ever update to show that your car was out of customs and at the dealer? I guess I'm hoping that they are just slow to update the status and that my car is further along.

Same as before...the best status check is to call ED...they have the most accurate real-time info...even better that the dealerships themselves. My CA didn't know he was receiving my car today, I told him that!

My car was delivered to the dealer on June 3 as well. 4 weeks from my drop-off date - much quicker than I expected.
