amg to m5 - warranty questions

i have an 06 CLS AMG and i'm thinking about getting an 08 m5. can someone tell me the best way to get good warranty coverage if i don't buy the car from bmw as a cpo? i found a couple i like w/ low miles that are still under factory warranty, but they're for sale through independent shops. my understanding is that i can't get the car certified w/ an extended warranty unless i buy it from a bmw dealer - is that correct? any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

If the has the warranty it does not meter where you buy it from. The has the warranty.
The only thing is if you buy it not from the BMW dealership you not going to get the loaner from the dealer if something brakes down.

yes, your understanding is correct - that you can't get the car certified..unless you buy it from a BMW dealer

you can, however, get a non-dealership extended warranty thru various companies
