2004 M3, price too good to be true?

I saw this ad on E46fanantics: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=678968. It's a 2004 M3 SMG w/ 58k for sale. The price started around ~24k and has been dropped to ~20k during the past month. Does anyone know this car or the seller? Is this the normal going price for the car around Colorado, or is the price too good to be true? (indicating major problems)

Are you kidding? He posted his phone number. I don't see anything there that would suggest its not legitimate. Its just someone hurting to sell. You don't post a working phone number on a scam.

I've been looking for a new BMW to replace the one I sold before I deployed. The price of 20K nationwide with that many miles is about what you can see nationwide. I'll be honest, the 24K is a bit more in line with the research I've been doing but if they guy had a buyer on the line and it fell through, he may, in fact, be a bit of a nervous seller at this point. My advice, look into it. If the seller starts asking for money wired to him or if it starts lookin' fishy, then it's likely a scam. I'd check it out though.

I purchased my 2004 M3 Convertible in MINT condition with 25K miles last year in November for $25,900 and it was still under warranty. I believe it could be a good deal, but make sure you have the car checked out first.

i'd say give him a call and feel him out. pictures with the current date and the car plus car fax would also be a good step.

Maybe not a scam....

Hey hey.

I just bought a 2004 M3 convertible with a manual tranny and 24k miles here in San Francisco for 29k a couple months ago with a year left on the warranty. I think have noted that the SMG sells for a solid few thousand less than the manual--I could have bought a 2006 SMG for another $5k. So hisprice might not be all that crazy.

Also, I've been watching the used cars move around here for a few months and I notice that some of the guys who are wanting to sell fast will post low, but I have especially noticed that a car with *any* customization can be kind of hard to move.

I'd say you should call the dood, use your nose, don't get too attached, and don't be afraid to enact a disciplined bailout at the first sign of trouble.

Not trying to hijack, but I'm trying not to start a new thread. I'm eyeing an 06 coupe 6spd with 7K miles in NYC at dealership. Repainted bumpers. Basic options. Asking 41K. Any opinions?

'04 M3 for sale with non working engine

This seems like a good deal to me, but not a scam. I would have the car thoroughly checked out by an experienced BMW mechanic. I'm tryin to sell my '04 M3 with a non working engine; the camshaft bolts came loose and were then sheared off resulting in 4 cylinders being damaged. If anyone is looking for an '04 M3 in excellent condition except for the engine please let me know. It is a manual transmition, carbon black metallic paint, 19"wheels, tinted windows, clear 3M bra, upgraded sound system with ipod controlls, full leather seats, etc. Current offer from my mechanic is $5k; make a better offer and its yours, but I need to know by wednesday 6/22

Thanks,
