Check out posts 24 and 26 of the May 2011 Lease Rate thread: BMW Auto Lease Programs - May 2011

It seems that the rate posted was incorrectly stated as 0.00145 when it should have been 0.0016.

Thanks so much for the reply.

So 82% resid is for 2years at 10K - then what is the mileage limit for 2 years at 79%? Or are the LeaseCompare numbers off a bit?

I assume 7 is the max number of MSDs one may apply (was when I considered leasing my 335i). Could someone confirm?

This is probably the wrong thread for this, but here goes: I cannot seem to get both Premium Package and Premium Sound Package in the Build Your Own website. Does Premium Package at 2500 MSRP include Premium Sound?

OK, one more: Where the heck is the sticky with the MSRP and the dealer costs per option for the 2011 Z435si?

Thanks,
abmwc

1) 35IS - 79% is for 15k mi/yr. 81% for 12K/yr. 82% for 10K/yr. Do 10K/yr and prebuy any extra miles with the 20% discount, at $0.16 each they are cheaper than the additional depreciation.

2) Correct, Max 7 MSDs.

3) The online configurator is screwed up for Z4s. Premium sound is $1,800 on top of the premium package, or at least it was in September when my Z was built.

(Picture I just took of my Z, shot by the night light in my garage.)

What's a realistic cap cost for US delivery? Invoice + or - what dollar amount? Some people have mentioned -500 or even more below invoice?

I highly doubt people are getting 500 under invoice... there are also not too many IS's on dealer lots. 500-1000 over invoice are realistic.

SANguru,

You are doing ED, correct? Do you mind if I ask which dealer you used? Local or one of the board sponsors?

Thanks,

These lease rates are crazy.

Leasing a Z4 35is AND buying an old Jeep or something for the rare occasion I'm carrying multiple passengers or cargo would be cheaper - significantly so - than my original plan of leasing just a 5 series!! (and also way more fun!)

Dima, post or PM the specs of the car you ordered and we can price it out. How many miles per year are you doing, and do you qualify for owner's loyalty?

What kind of deal did you get because it looks like I am on the same boat as you. Seems like people here are getting incredible deals with 0 down and $350/mo?!?! Trade ins? I shopped everywhere in Southern California and came no where near that!

Guys can you tell me if I should pull the trigger on this?

Z4 35I
Premium Package - $2,500
Sport Package - $2,300
Navigation System - $2,100
Ipod Adapter - $400
Loading System - $195

Total MSRP = $61,720
He said invoice/selling price is $57,355

For 10k miles/yr for 24mos
Cash down = $4,000
Monthly payment = $516.27 (including CA tax 9.75%)

So I will spend $16,390.48 for this car after the lease is over.

Residual is 80% and money factor is .00190. I do not qualify for the loyalty plan...

Any suggestions will help! I realize the down payment is high, but over the span of 2 years it will be cheaper since I will pay less interest. Is this a good move or no? Maybe low down? How does the MSD work? My first time leasing...

Battleon, is that deal for European Delivery? That's the only way to get a cheap payment.

The MSD (multiple security program) works like this -- for every additional security deposit you put down, you lower your money factor by 0.0007. You can pay a max of 7 security deposits for a max reduction of 0.00049. Since you get all the money back at the end of the lease, it's extremely smart to do this, as it works out to about a 10-12& ROI.

You should never pay any money down a lease. I'd definitely recommend reading http://www.fairbmwlease.com/guide.html

Battleon, your selling price seems reasonable enough, but look at doing a few things:
  • Get a 3.5is instead of a 3.5. As the 3.5is has an 82% residual (for 10K miles/year) while the 3.5 has an 80% residual, you'll actually pay less for a 3.5is than you will for a 3.5 (and you won't need that sport package either)
  • Do 7 MSDs instead of a down payment. With a down payment, if the car is totaled you're out the down payment. With MSD's, you get the security deposits back if the car is a loss and you'll get a greater savings than you will from a down payment
  • Make sure the acquisition fee is $725 and not $925
  • If you stick with a 3.5 (rather than a 3.5is), insist on a money factor of .00175 (the sales support buy rate) and don't let the dealer mark it up 15 basis points. If you go with a 3.5is, the sales support rate is .00190, but the standard super elite money factor is .00175, so insist the dealer us the standard money factor instead if your credit score is 740 or above. Note that these money factors are before the MSDs, so your money factor post-MSDs (assuming a 3.5 or a 3.5is with the super elite MF) would be .00126 (.00175 - (7 * .00007))
  • If you have the time and inclination, doing European Delivery will save you even more

Thank you merrick for your help and the info on the down payment

The reason why I want the 35I is for the manual transmission, but maybe your right...I should grow up and get the auto... And I can't do European Delivery...no time...

Well, I received another offer and about to pull the trigger if you think its good.

Z4 35i
Selling price is 57,455
Money Factor .00126 after MSD

Down 2237.68
MSD 3850
Total = $6087.68
$522.42/mo with tax

So after everything is said and done, I pay $14,253 for the lease. Good?

Question - does any one know how a similarly equipped Boxster or MB equivalent's monthly payment for a lease would compare to the Z4's speical of $399 as advertised on BMWUSA.com?

No specials this month, so generic manufacturers lease numbers used:

Boxster (non-S) with PDK and NO options 24 mo/10K mi/yr, (Porsche Payment Estimator) is about $876 before taxes, fees and security deposit. No discount used in the calculation because you are unlike to find or want a Boxster with no options.

SLK350 Base, no options, 24 mo/10K mi/yr is about $730 before taxes, fees and security deposit. (Included whole $3,250 M-to-D incentive + another 1,000 off MSRP)
