Z3 Newbie Needs Help with Tonneau Cover

First post. Be kind. Just bought a 98 Z3 M - has a tonneau cover that is like new - seemingly never used - and that may be because rather than having the "tenex" (sp?) style stud buttons (which is what everyone seems to describe) for the "front" - this cover has nylon straps with plastic pinch clips - similar to the clips which straps down the wind screen - except wider. The cover itself has the "male" clp ends - but the car does not have the "female" clip receptacles. Cover looks OEM (at least it has instructions in german) - I must be missing something somewhere - if I need some female receptacles for the car -where can I find them? Thanks!

I have never seen anything like that, but I MAY have a solution. Those clips are similar to the ones used in the factory optional windblocker. I bought one used, and the elastic was stretched past its useful limits. I bought new elastic and new clips at a camping supply store. The clips did not match perfectly, so I bought complete sets, all slightly oversized.

It looks like you could easily make the missing pieces the same way.

Yep, looks OEM but designed to work with the OEM wind screen.

Only one set of "female" snaps in the car - which would mean that it would be either the screen or the tonneau - and that seems weird doesn't it?

And I think the windscreen clips are just a shade narrower than these.

Is there an OEM parts book online where I could check to see if there are companion straps for the car?

Then again, we have NEVER used the cover on our car. So ignore it.

I found the pix I took when I "improved" my windscreen. This photo has both the original clip and the replacement from the camping supply people.
