[Z3] LSD Swap

Really considering a diff swap soon. I'm running the stock 3:45 open diff for the U.S. Spec 1.9, wanting to swap for a LSD. I'm thinking of looking at e30 diffs, I know if I go this route I'll have to change the output flanges. Any suggestions on which model to pull a diff from? I'm really wanting, basically, the same ratio so I maintain good acceleration. Thanks everybody.

Give the guys at www.diffsonline.com a call. They're really great guys and will help answer your questions. Their prices aren't too bad either.

Go to a junkyard. You can pick up a 3.73"S" diff fairly cheap.

I paid $75 for mine.

Seriously??? $75 i can do if it actually works. What model did you pull off of? Everone says e30's a straight swap.

75$ for a complete 3.73 diff with lsd...

I'd freak out if I got just the crown wheel and pinion for that price.

Best regards,
Phil

It was a 25+ year old used differential.

How much do you think these things should cost?

I've paid $200 for mines 1 1/2 years ago. Have to replace O-rings and seals. I have it available for sale. PM me if interested. It is a direct fit from Z3 Coupe. I don't know if you need some modification for 1.9.
