F10 M5: 7:55 on the ring

Nicknamed The Green Hell by Jackie Stewart, it is widely considered the toughest and most demanding purpose-built race track in the world.

http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/nordschleife.html

if true (not sure why it wouldnt be) that is VERY impressive. 10 sec faster than the e92 M3 and 13 sec better than the mighty e60 M5

Yeah, much faster than I expected. I'm still not sure what to make of the body styling on it, though. What do you think?

I assume M5 doesn't use run flat tires.

Your sarcasm is precisely you, and you may also persist to diss the F10. Happy?

It's a prerequisite for M3 owners to come over to the F10 board and hate on the F10. you are the 3rd in an illustrious group.

Nice time, but I can't believe how close the CTS-V is for an aging model (what is it going into, it's fourth year?)...

This tire has got good reviews. I think BMW knows its run flat thing is quite bogus.

I think it's reasonable for a high performance sedan to live without a spare. Not for a daily driver though.

Very impressive indeed. Hats off to the M department, this one must have been one of their more challenging tasks and this achievement is huge for PR purposes.
It definately makes me curious enough to book a test drive once these monsters are available. Do we know yet if the M5 has electric or hydraulic steering and if it has struts or multilink suspension?

7:55 is a good time indeed. That said, I haven't seen any official BMW confirmation of this time or something more reliable than the fastest laps website - anyone seen anything?

1. Hydraulic
2. Multilink.
3. Pilot Super Sports (no run flats) - since you didn't ask.

Unofficial. There is still no confirmation or proof given, but IMHO, I believe that it's possible. It's not like the BMW M division to allow the likes of Cadillac to own the Ring without doing something about it eventually. Only took them 4 years. Lol...
