Is it worth the $$$
ok so im looking to buy my first m3. ive wanted one ever since i was 16. I found a '97 e36going for $6995. The interior and exterior are in great shape. my only concern is the mileage (140k) pleae tell me what you think. i am really considering getting the car.

Bimmerfest (mostly E36 section) does not take in newcomers (noobs) very well (who aske already answered questions), at least from what I observe.. Lol (Especially Lou)

If it's in sound mechanical shape, then a 140k engine has plenty of life in it. The majority of problems on the E36 are not related to the engine (directly, anyways). The engine is the most durable component of the car, so you need to inspect the other things. How is the suspension, when was the cooling system last replaced (all parts of it). If the car has been reasonably maintained and has a solid suspension and cooling system then it should have plenty of life for reasonable amounts of maintenance dollars.
If you have to redo the suspension and the cooling system that's another $1k-$2k.
