Try to lock all doors through Driver door, Passenger door doesn't lock

Hello again! I have a 94 E36 2 door.

My problem is my passenger door lock. I will lock my doors via putting in the key into the driver's side then turn the key. Driver's door locks, but passenger's door doesn't. I will have to walk over to the other side of the car and put the key into the keyhole of the passenger door then then it to lock it.

Even then, the little knob on the inside does not go down like it is supposed to (it goes down hardly, probably in the millimeters range).

Pressing the driver's door lock while in the car locks the driver's door, but not the passengers'.

I have no aftermarket alarm (or alarm in general) installed, but am planning on getting one. Any thoughts on this and what brand and model to go for? I read that some alarms mess the locking of their E36.

You could just wait a couple of weeks and it might start working again or at least thats what my actuator wants to do.

sounds like an actuator. i suggest taking the doorpanel off and inspect for binding or other interferences. it may just need to be lubricated, or it may need to be replaced. either way you wouldn't know for certain without takig a look at it.

Thanks everyone.

I've had this problem for a few months now.

Now time to remove that door panel!
