Looks like it's for an older model BMW, maybe e30. You can get anything to fit if you have cash, but I doubt it will bolt on directly

Pass. I'd buy one you are sure of in terms of fitment and quality. The Stromung and ARK exhaust systems are good too!!

+1 to the E30 idea. The giveaway is the hangers on the muffler, the E36 has two parallel to the exhaust tips, and this one has one parallel to the side of the muffler.

That's an E30 cat.

Oh, and yeah. $400 is fair if it's in good working order. They're like $1100 new

I'd save some money and install it yourself, unless you don't have the necessary jack & jack stands.

Yeah if you're just buying a catback, grab a remus, eisenmann, UUC, Borla, or Rogue exhaust and install it yourself. You almost don't even need a jack to do it it's so easy.

The bends? Most aftermarket mufflers will just bolt on. You don't need to modify it or anything.

Don't go with Magnaflow.

I don't know if Magnaflow makes an E36 cat-back. If not, you would in fact need to have a muffler shop custom fab the piping. That said, I don't like how E36s with Magnaflows sound on YouTube, and would recommend getting one of the other cat-backs mentioned above which require no custom work and you can install yourself using basic hand tools.

Ed's UUC cat back sounds amazing on his 328

on my e30 I have a long tube header, no cat, and stock muffer (new) and the car has an beautiful loud dtm race car note (not quiet) when at WOT but cruising around town is has a quiet rumble (almost stock sounding)
