X5 + Mud = Fun

Sorry no pics... but it is raining cats and dogs here (rare) and we've got some mud to play in. With the wife and son the car, we took a detour up some muddy hills and fields on the way to the in-laws. What a blast! The X5 crawls up and plows through (with traction control clicking away) with almost no hesistation.

After making a seriously nice mess of the BMW, we found several deep (6" or so) rivers of water in the gutter to blast through at 25 mph to "wash" the truck (my son loved watching the water blow over the roof!).

I love the fact the X5 is as capable off-road as it is on-road.

Sounds like fun!

Can you actually hear traction control at work?

When it was super snowy, slushy here week before last, I was thrilled at how well the X5 pulled through that muck (we drove around plenty of people spinning their wheels at stop lights).

I don't think I ever "heard" it engage, though.

Traction control sounds like the ABS system tapping the brakes in the back... When you take a hard street corner, it taps on the rear inside tire to reduce the understeer. But if the road is not smooth or if there's no road at all, there will be other noises that are louder.
