Inherited a 84' 533i updated with photos

Hello all,

My wife inherited her fathers 533i. We would like to keep the car but there are 3 sisters involved and the easiest thing to keep the peace would be to sell it. I was hoping some of you experts could give me an idea of what this car would be worth. The car has been garaged for the last 10+ years the tabs on the plates are dated 1999. I would rate it as in very good condition not prefect but pretty darn nice. It is Black with tan leather interior. It shows 122k for mileage. The paint is nice and shiny, the seats are clean with no tears. carpet is good. sunroof and power everything. Any advice would be much appreciated. Is there any options that I should look for that would make this car more desirable? I just want to make sure we get a fair price for the car because at this point I have no idea what to ask for it.

Does it run? Also is it a 83 or a 84? The 83 is faster with a lighter flywheel and a hotter cam. Also with it being a auto it is worth less. I would guess 3 to 5 thousand, maybe as much as 6.

It's worth keeping. I would offer to buy out the other parties with a NADA or Edmunds appraisal price. Selling an older BMW is iffy, you might get the right buyer or you might never find anyone who will give you what its really worth.

Like the title says it is a '84

It runs perfect, the only issue is the tires may need replacing due to sitting so long.

You'll get top dollar if you post it in the classifieds on this site because we all have a thing for BMWs. However I fail to see how you getting top dollar will make your sisters-in-law happy.

Hey, What type of tires does your 1984 533i use? I wanted to find out some more about the Michelin metric TRX tires and I was wondering if other mid-1980s 5-series used those tires. Thanks.

With the trx wheels they were used by other e28 and the e24. they are not worth much since the tires are 400 dollars each. I use them to send my left over parts cars to the shredder.

Do a search: maybe Tirebuyer.com or tirerack.com. They're expensive because they're obsolete; limited production special order. Buy yourself a set of 14 or 15 or 16 inch diameter wheels and your tire choices will be endless. Craiglist and the Bimmerfest classifieds are full of wheel and tire ads. You can find charts that will tell you exactly what wheels will fit your car. Andy (south26) probably also has plenty of E28 wheels you can use. I have a set of 6 stock 528e wheels with Michelins that I might be willing to sell also.
