If it's not too late I try this site: M5 FAQ site It's been very useful since I bought my M5. Be very careful and get a thorough PPI. They are wonderful. Good Luck, Greg S. '91 M5 |

Great! I have owned one for 10 years, now with 140KMiles on it, and find it still a thrill. The engine is the most expensive part, so that should be the priority. The oil track record is important - the oils used weren't usually synthetic. I change mine every 2500-3000 miles, Castrol 20-50. The recommended valve adjustment interval is very frequent and many cars don't receive this work and thus it won't be documented. However, if there are/were no audible valve train ticking noises, that's a good sign. The engines on that car frequently stabilize after a couple of adjustments and go >>50 Kmiles after that just fine. The transmissions all make noises and seem to last quite well despite that. Good luck! -Gil Hawkins
