Local classic car show pics
Hello all,
Our youngest son and I went to a local classic car show at the Botham Vineyards, a vineyard near by. Don't laugh about vineyards in Wisconsin. In the 1850s and 1860s, Agoston Haraszthy, a Hungarian merchant, made several trips West to import cuttings from the greatest European vineyards to California. He is considered one of the founders of the California wine industry. He stopped in Wisconsin on his journeys and had a hand in starting the small local wine making industry. Anyway, the focus of the show was pre-war MGs, but several German cars stood out. 1969 2000CS in the parking lot, not the car corral! Beautiful kidneys A very yellow 3.0CS... the direct descendent of the "parking lot" 2000CS Our youngest son with the 3.0CS A more affordable dream: 1989 e30 coupe in very nice shape inside and out. Nice wheels on the e30 American muscle also represented: Boss GT 350 Mustang Cockpit of one of the "best of show" pre-war MGs From the front.... when "coach builders" were really artisans And the holy mother of god moment... a mint restored Porsche 911RS. The finest 911 ever in my opinion. I would gladly sell BOTH kidneys for this beauty. I had never seen one in person, so a really special moment for me and the boy. Check on the fuel tank cap in the front. The moment was made even better when we heard this bad-boy drive off.. the growling, gurgling, spitting engine note was the definition of visceral... and the driver probably was only in 1st or 2nd gear getting out of the parking lot. Any more shots of that Red 2000 CS?
Many moons ago I had one of those.. it was my first BMW. The car that got me hooked! It was also a Euro model, 1 of 2 in the country with factory sunroof. Thanks, Paul |
