E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

08 128i vs 11 Genesis Coupe?

I'm debating between a 08 128i with 22k 6 speed coupe vs 11 Genesis Coupe with 4k automatic. the only feature the Genesis has over the 128 is sat nav. I've driven the Genesis but not the 128, going to do that next week.

opinions?

I would test them both twice and see which has better vision with less blind spots as well as the way the car handles and the comfort feeling for your own individual needs. I wish I could help more but I never tested a Genesis Coupe but I love my new BMW 128i car that has great visibility and handles so well. However that Satelite NAV sounds great but try it out and see if you like the one that comes with the car also.

I buy cars based almost entirely on appearance ... there's no comparison.

You must decide for yourself.

Ronsitto, your car is beautiful and looks like mine except I have a different seat color.

SilverX3, I heard the Hyundai's retained their value the first few years very well but then they fall way behind. So if I plan to keep a car for a long time, resale value does count.

BUT blind spots are a negative for me and I found the BMW 128i with the back head rests removed to be one of the best cars for me in terms of great visibility.

I now buy cars based on if I can reach the gas pedals, rest my foot on the floor, have no blind spots, handling well, great breaks, decent base radio, small size of car to fit into my skinny garage so I can still store stuff in the front of the garage, liking the looks of the car, enough power to pass without fear of being hit, quiet on highways, comfortable seats, easy to park, and parking sensor or a back-up camera. These features I found in the 2012 128i Alpine White with Oyster leather heated seats, heated steering wheel (since I get cold hands in the winter time), parking sensor to beep when petite me is getting close to something since being so small it is difficult to judge, and no other options. I actually find the HD radio sounding great compared to my last Acura RSX which I loved the inside interior coloring, short seat, able to reach the gas pedal and floor, handles great around curves, automatic climate control worked well, the hatchback feature and the good gas mileage ... but that is about all I liked about the car. I had way too many blind spots, I did not sit high enough, seats were too hard, head rest was not adjustable and not protective for petite me, radio not as nice as my former Honda Prelude's radio, no heated seats came with the leather seats, and noisy on highways.

Drive both and see which one you'd be happier with for day to day living.

You can always buy latest and greatest sat nav for $200,
but it would be impossible to convert automatic into 6 SP manual, or any car into BMW

Exactly. Plus the pre '09 BMW Navi is less impressive than the later versions. Get the Bimmer and a Garmin or some such.
