The more I see pictures of the new LED's the more pissed I get that I ordered a 35d in march because my CA assured me that that diesels wouldn't get LED's until the fall. I would have gladly waited a few more weeks. Yes I know I am whining but I hate being lied to.

Pardon my ignorance but what's the difference between a 2012 X5 35d LED and a 2011 corona. Is this just white vs yellow light or is there more to it in terms of design and utility.

I like my 2011 lights and also like the 2012 but is it worth all this discussion and regret?

Actually the 2012 35d won't be out until the fall. However, in April they changed the coronas on the 2011 to LED. The LED's are much more white and they look a lot better. it is really asthetics more than anything else.

It was a pleasant suprise to see them, but I was prepared to buy the LUX aftermarket and install them myself, so at least there is an option for you and it can be fixed for relatively little. As an aside not all was perfect. I assumed tinted rear windows came with a $60k+ SUV, they do not, you have to select the option and it's not in any of the big packages I ordered, so the X5 looks like a fish bowl with no privacy windows in the rear. Also I did not upgrade the stereo, while it is "ok" it is only 4 speakers, yes 4. You see other grilles for speakers all over the car but they have nothing behind them when you look or listen.

Well it's good it can be "fixed". I still like my 2011 lights and don't plan to spend till next yr on the LED's.

If it's just while bulb vs yellow bulb, it's ok. I though I'm missing more given the new 2012 comes with LED's.

This thread just made my day if it's true.... was the only thing I was a bit put off about getting a 2011 35d.

I feel bad for the poor bastards with LCI X5s with no coronas. I see so many of them and a few of the younger guys get sucked into the coronas and are probably thinking "BMW really fcked me on this one". I don't blame you. I know it seems insignificant to some but they are so damn nice the normal ones just don't seem to cut it anymore.
